Patty was born on July 18th, 1954 in Ilion, NY to the late Paul and Nettie Rix. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Ken and Don Rix.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Larry Spain of the home; sister, Anita Rawls and husband Monty of Ringgold, GA; brother, Jerry Rix and wife M. J. of Duluth, GA; sister-in-law, Carolyn Spain of Asheville; brother-in-law, Thomas Spain of Asheville; nephews, Chris Rawls, Brett Rawls, David Rix; 4 grand nieces and nephews.
Patty attended St. Eugenes Catholic School, A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville. She earned a BA degree in Spanish from UNC-Asheville and her nursing degree from Western Carolina University.
She worked as a nurse at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC and as an ER nurse at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory for over 30 years.
Patty loved to travel and loved spending time with her family. She was a fabulous cook and her family greatly enjoyed her culinary talents.
