Jason was a wonderful husband, father and son. His loss will leave a lasting impact on his wife, Shelley Parsons Mitchell; his children, Olivia Mitchell, and Lexus and Lindsay Ammon; his parents, Randy and Rebecca “Becky” Geibel Mitchell; his brother, Zachary Mitchell, all of Wellsville and his grandparents, Jim and Virginia “Rosey” Geibel of Chester.
Only 37 years old, Jason was born on October 4, 1979 in Salem.
He was a CPR and ACLS instructor for the American Heart Association and he was a current member of East Liverpool Township Fire Department. In the past he had been involved in several other area fire departments.
Jason wore many hats and he dedicated his life to public safety service. A tactical paramedic, he volunteered his service to the Columbiana County Sheriff Department’s Swat and Drug Task Force Teams. He was a Tactical Paramedic for Lifeteam EMS. Jason was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff and dispatcher for the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department. Before becoming too ill to work, Jason was employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
A Christian, Jason was lifelong resident of Wellsville and a 1998 graduate of Wellsville High School.
He gave his life to volunteering and will be deeply missed by those he helped, his co-workers, many friends and extended family.
Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church in Wellsville will celebrate Jason’s life on Wednesday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Friends are invited to join the family as they pay tribute to Jason at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. He will be laid to rest at the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery at the conclusion of the Wednesday services.
