Mr. Larry D. Fleming, 76, entered his eternal rest on Friday, April 21, 2017, surrounded by family members.

Born April 20, 1941, in Elbert County, he was the youngest son of Willie Stanton and Agnes Owen Fleming. Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Owen Fleming and Bobby Fleming; 3 sisters, Ruth Gaymon, Hilda Sheats and Mary Beth Rice. He is survived by one brother, Gerald Fleming (Carol), Platsburg, New York; three sisters, Wilma Paulk, Ocilla, Georgia, Rebecca Drake, Carlton, and Irene Shupe, Athens and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fleming attended Madison County High School where he was a member of the FFA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Teletype Operator from 1960-1962, with one deployment to Korea. After his military service, he began working with the Westinghouse Corporation in Athens, Georgia where he retired after 27 years of service. He was employed with Heritage Amusement, also in Athens, Georgia.
In his younger days, Mr. Fleming loved his muscle cars and owned several over the years. He was also an avid Nascar Race. Fan. He never missed a race and could be found rooting for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt and then Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

A celebration of his life will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Elbert County on Monday, April 24, 2017, at11:30 am with Rev. Jimmy Edwards and Rev. Billy Lewis officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm in the clubhouse at the home of Irene Shupe, at 109 Rockford Road, Athens, GA.
