Terry Neil Bryan
October 18, 1938 - April 19, 2017

It is with great sorrow our beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, grandpa, and great-grandpa passed away suddenly in the early evening of April 19th, with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Terry was the baby of the family and the seventh child born, on October 18, 1938, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to mother Ruth Elizabeth Walker of West Virginia and father John Henry Bryan, who was from Ireland. He moved to Bakersfield, California, with his family in 1940 when he was two years old and was a member of the community there for 76 years. Terry graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1957, and he married his high school sweetheart, Marion Jeanette Avila, on December 18, 1959, at Rexland Christian Church in Rexland Acres, CA. Their family grew to five members shortly after, with two sons and one daughter.

Terry was a loving and hardworking man. He worked with his father as a painter and roofer until he started his career as a chemist with Pacific Southern Foundries on Golden State Hwy. in Bakersfield. He retired from the company after about 30 years.

He loved going to Las Vegas, trying his luck on the crap tables, and going to Santa Anita Park in Los Angeles, betting on the horse races. His hobbies included carpentry, billiards, and bowling, in which he taught his children how to shoot pool and to bowl like pros. He was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers baseball fan for many years. He loved watching the Dodgers on TV with his family or listening to the game on the radio.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeanette; sons, Scott Bryan and wife Diane of Bakersfield; Keith Bryan and wife Terrica of Bakersfield; daughter, Marion Stevenson of Camarillo, CA; sisters, Jean Peters of Bakersfield; Shirley Ogilvie of Reno, NV; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Bryan; father, John Bryan; brother, Jack Bryan; sisters, Ruth McCown, Ivy Bryan, and Helen Griffin; and son-in-law, Robert Stevenson Jr.
Graveyard services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest on April 29th at 2 p.m.
