Angela J. Brady, 90, of Moorhead, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in the care of Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead.

Angela Jayne Erickson, the daughter of Albert and Selma (Tysseland) Erickson, was born in Barnesville, Minnesota, on May 5, 1926. She grew up in Rollag, Minnesota. She graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, North Dakota, prior to attending St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing.

Angela was married to Harold Jenkins in June of 1947, with whom she raised four sons in Moorhead. In June 1977, Angela was married to Earl Vollrath until his death in 1981. In 1988, Angela married William C. Brady, who she was married to until his death in 2001.

Angela enjoyed her career as an RN in St. Luke’s Hospital, Fargo and St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead. She received both her bachelor’s degree in nursing and her master’s degree in guidance counseling from Moorhead State University. She was an admired nursing instructor for 17 years at St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing.

Angela will be remembered as a humanitarian, author and supporter of local arts. She took great pride in her work as a special education teacher at Olivet Lutheran Church. During her residence at Eventide from 2013 until her passing, she enjoyed visiting with and reading to residents of Eventide Lutheran Home. She was adored by family and friends for her unique ability to comfort those around her with kindness and empathy. She was the author of four books and wrote columns for publications in Pelican Rapids and Sunland Village in Mesa, Arizona. Local art was a passion for her including acting in and attending performances at the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre and attending Theatre and Opera at NDSU, MSUM, and Concordia. Angela also found joy in painting and pottery, drawing inspiration from landscapes and sunsets from her summer homes on Pelican Lake.

Angela is survived by her son, Michael (Deborah) Jenkins, of Fargo, and Bradley Jenkins, of Crookston, MN; a sister, Marie (Lowell) Saterbak, Lakeland, MN; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas, who died October 31, 1970, and David, who died December 3, 2015.
