Tommy Jerrel Burns of De Kalb, Texas passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at a Bossier City, Louisiana hospital. He was 69. He was born September 29, 1947 in De Kalb, Texas to Floyd and Elizabeth Clark Burns.

On October 4, 1985, he was married to Cindy McMillan in the New Hope Community of De Kalb, Texas. He was retired from Red River Army Depot, where he worked as a Millwright Mechanic for 34 years.

Tommy was a rancher, an avid gardener, tractor collector and fisherman. He was a member of Austin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elizabeth Burns and two grandchildren, Gracelyn and Paisley Stringer.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cindy McMillan Burns of De Kalb, Texas, a son, Wade Burns of De Kalb, Texas, a daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Zack Stringer of Benton, Arkansas, two grandsons, Dalton Burns and Carter Stringer, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyd and Karen Burns of New Boston, Texas, Danny and Theresa Burns of Omaha, Texas and Jackie and Karen Burns of De Kalb, Texas, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Deb and Jimmy Stewart of Navarro Mills, Texas, Pam Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas and Frances and Tom Duncan of Iowa Park, Texas, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Boyd and Kathleen McMillan of De Kalb, Texas, two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Ken and Brenda McMillan of De Kalb, Texas and Randy and Sharon McMillan of Malta, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Austin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Ronnie Pipes and Rev. Justin Coburn officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
