He married Eva Stevens on January 29, 1965 in Charleston and they have shared 52 years of marriage and friendship. In addition to his loving and devoted wife Eva, left to cherish his memory are his children, Jacque Escoffier of San Diego, CA, Ray Epperson, Jr. and wife Ronda of West Plains, Missouri, Denise Montgomery and husband Terry of Auburn, Illinois, Lafe Epperson and wife Nicki of Carlock, Illinois and Chad Epperson of Ashmore; 21 grandchildren; soon to be 35 great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Deremiah and husband Mark of Charleston; a brother, Tom Epperson and wife Shelley of Mattoon; and several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents Ray was also preceded by a brother, George Epperson and a sister, Georgia Wright.

Ray possessed qualities that enhanced his success as a self-employed bar owner. He was a people person who never knew a stranger and was a master storyteller. He always had a humorous joke or words of wisdom to share which were also known as “Epperson-isms”.

Ray had an inventive and creative mind which was always planning a project as he liked to keep busy. When he wasn’t working around his family home he enjoyed playing a round or two of golf.

Ray was most proud of his family and they always remained near and dear to his heart. He could always see the silver lining in any situation and enjoyed the friendship of so many. He will always be remembered for the joy, the laughter, and the many positive ways in which he touched the lives of his family, his many friends and acquaintances.
