Beatrice Dusek, age 98, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Saturday November 5, 2011 in the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home, Mahnomen.

Beatrice Magdeline Bisek was born November 4, 1913 in Mahnomen, MN, the daughter of Paul and Magdeline (Flicek) Bisek. She was raised on a farm west of Mahnomen and attended school in town. As a young lady, she worked for area families doing housework. On May 12, 1936 Beatrice was united in marriage to Lewis Dusek. The couple made their home on a farmstead near Mahnomen for a few years before moving into town. Bea was employed by St. Anthony’s Hospital in Mahnomen until the new Mahnomen County Village Hospital was built. She then worked at the hospital as a nurses aide until 1987. Lewis died in 1983 and Bea continued to live in Mahnomen even after her retirement. She has resided at the Mahnomen Health Center since 2009.

As a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Bea was quite involved in the church and with the Ladies Aid. She helped organize the church bulletins and laundered the church linens for several years. Bea was also a longtime member of the Mahnomen National Catholic Society of Foresters Court 342. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flower gardens.

Beatrice is survived by three daughters: Ann Pavek, Blaine, MN, Therese (Bernard) Pavek, Wadena, MN, and Margaret (Leslie) Jacobson, Pasco, WA; one sister, Mary Christianson, Ulen, MN; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Gloria Bisek, Crosby, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; one sister; and one great-grandson.

In lieu of flowers, Bea’s family would prefer memorials be given to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or the Mahnomen Historical Society.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9th at 2:00 pm in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Mahnomen. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:30 pm in the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, Minnesota. Interment will be at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.
