Bernice "Bunny" Franklin, age 96, of Kenosha, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Grande Prairie Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Born on October 9, 1911 in Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Burt and Emma (Borkenhagen) Holderness. Bernice attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1929. In 1934 she married Paul Franklin. He preceded her in death.

Bernice was employed as a Secretary at Washington Jr. High School for 34 years, retiring in 1976.

Bernice was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, the Kenosha Senior Citizens Club, the Senior Center Duplicate and Bridge Club.

Bernice was an accomplished and avid bridge player. She loved to knit, travel, play golf and go to the movies. She will always be remembered for taking her five grandchildren to Six Flags, the movies and Villa D'Carlo Restaurant.

She is sadly missed by her son Burt "Mickey" (Gwen) Franklin of Palm Springs, CA; a sister, Joyce Adelson of Kenosha; her grandchildren, Jean (Martin) Lacock, Cindy (Ron) Lewis, Debra (Craig) Smith-Jones, Christine (Brian) Sullivan and Joseph (Amy) Smith. Bernice is also survived by Jerry and Rosemary Smith (her guardian angel); her nieces, Marcia, Lauri and Sandra; her nephew, Eric and many great grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Koldenborg and a great granddaughter, MargaretAnn.
