Cecil Eugene Wise Jr., 70, of Claudville, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., of injuries from a tractor accident.

He was born on Dec. 15, 1938, in Burkburnett, Texas, to Cecil E. Wise Sr. and Lodena Cody Wise. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rudy Turner.

He retired from the Navy and had been a bus driver for the Patrick County School System.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou Hamm Wise of the home; four daughters, Linda Hawks of Ararat, Thelma Wise of Asbury, N.C., Jody South of Claudville and Ginger Wise, both of Claudville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Heath officiating. Burial will be in the Heath family cemetery with military honors by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
