Walter E. Lowry, 66, of 1405 Bennett St., died Saturday noon of an apparent heart attack. A Janesville resident for 52 years, he was born July 18, 1901, in the Town of La Prairie, the son of Robert and Mary Lowry. He married Lillian Schrub Aug. 24, 1934, in Rockford, Ill. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. An employee of the Fisher Body Corp. for 39 years, he retired from the paint department in 1966. He had formerly been employed at the Lewis Knitting Company and Parker Pen Company. Surviving are his wife; two brothers, Norman, Janesville, and Seth, Madison; three sisters, Mrs. Marshall Honeysett, Temple City, Calif., Mrs. Clarence Olson and Gladys Lowry, both of Janesville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Walter was the seventh child of eight children born in LaPrairie township. His parents were Mary Jane nee Lowry and Robert S. Lowry of Ireland/each immigrating in the late 1860s/1870s, respectively.
His parents were potato farmers. The family worked hard together.
They lived south of Janesville in the LaPrairie township. His mother raised him/his seven siblings after his father passed from an attack of peritonitis having suffered for two weeks prior to that death when he was only three years of age.
He married Lillian Shrubb. They lived for sometime in Janesville and then relocated to Edgerton where he retired to live out his life.
He worked early in life for a few years as a cutter in the knitting factory. His career in the auto industry was as a painter for GM plant. He retired and enjoyed his gardening and outdoor work.
He loved being around nephew Stanley Lowry and Stanley's daughter /niece Colleen Lowry (Keen). No children were of this union.
He passed in Janesville, WI. at 66 years old. Lillian and he were joined eternally forever with family.
