Earnie Henderson, 78, Carmi, died at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.
He was born Dec. 9, 1930 in Peoria, the son of Robert and Iduna Mae (Ledford) Henderson, and was married July 27, 1977 to Nawanna Faye Maxfield.

Mr. Henderson was a driller and backhoe operator in the oilfield. He was a craftsman and enjoyed wood working.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Nawanna Henderson of Carmi; four daughters and a son-in-law, Dixie Fowler and Jill Henderson, both of Henderson, Ky., Piper Henderson, and Mitzi and Randy Holler, all of Kentucky; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jackie and Charlene Henderson of Inverness, Fla., and Rick Henderson of Kentucky; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Sheilah and Dennis Neal of Norris City, and Debra and Rick Wilson of Broughton; a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde Dale and Gail Henderson of Omaha; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Palestine No. 2 Cemetery at Omaha. Friends may call from 5 until 7 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
