October 30, 1942 - April 18, 2017

Mr. Gary Wayne Daniel, 74 of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Vicki Vaughn Daniel of the home. Born October 30, 1942 in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Morgan Daniel and Zelma Self Powell.
Mr. Daniel served in the U.S. Army Reserve from November 1959 to December 1960. In January 1961 was recalled to active duty during Berlin Crisis and was discharged in November 1967. Gary enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard in October 1971 and retired after 23 years of service on June 1, 1994 earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 02. Gary was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and enjoyed motorsports of all kinds.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Cleveland Memorial Park.
