Mr. Billy Lowery Tate of Pennington, Arkansas, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the age of 78.

He was born July 27, 1938, in Pennington, Arkansas, the son of Fletcher and Myrtle Tate.

Mr. Billy Tate was a 1956 graduate of Grubbs High School. He was a self-employed farmer, who loved to be in the field and on the dirt roads of what he called “God’s country” in Pennington, Arkansas. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Tate especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed meeting new people and will be remembered by man for his southern grace and hospitality. His desire was to be most remembered by others for this honest. Mr. Tate was a member of the Pennington Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his son, Travis Lowery Tate; a grandson, Fletcher Tate Voss; one brother, Byron Tate; and his parents.

Mr. Tate is survived by his wife of 35 years, Angela (Rutledge) Tate, of the home; two sons, William and Burl Tate, both of Pennington; three daughters, Leigh Ann Voss and husband, Robert Andrews, of Hayden, Idaho, Starla Fox and husband, Brian of Dillingham, Alaska, and Blanche Cunningham and husband, Sam, of Pennington; one step-son, Dowell Koller of Pennington; two sisters, Beverly Sue Rowland and husband, L.W. “Dub” of Newport, and Teena Renay Patty and husband, Gene, of Mayfield, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Monday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery at Johnstown.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chase Kagen, Bill Osborn, Trey Vaughn, Patrick Shelton, Jared Sparks, Jack Critcher, Keith Guffey, and Ricky Henderson. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Thaxton, Jimmy Phillips, Marcus Balch, Leo Ryan, Cortez Aitkens, Rickey Doyle, Todd Hulett, Benny Clark, Jackie Kieffer, Russell Strickland, Early Saine, Curt Guthrie, Bill Bice, Lester Groves, Sam Tennyson, and Jimmy Carter.
