Patrick, known as Pat, was from County Cork, Ireland. The baby of the family, he was one of eleven children born to James and Abina O'Connor, eight of whom survived past childhood. At the age of twenty-three, he was the oldest of a group of young men from the area travelling to America on the Titanic. His cousin Hannah Riordan, who survived, was also travelling with him. Like many other passengers, initially he thought nothing were seriously wrong. When his group were finally alerted to the fact that there was very real danger, they jumped out of their beds, put their clothes on, and went in search of lifebelts. It seems as though Pat were able to make it to the upper decks. As Hannah's lifeboat was being lowered, he called out to her and the other women with her, "Goodbye, girls. I'll see you in New York." Pat was 23 years old when he perished.
