There will be a memorial gathering for Jim Odden at Lakes Area Vineyard Church, Detroit Lakes, MN on Friday May 5, 2017 from 7pm-9pm.

Jim passed February 27, 2017 at his daughter's home in Cave Creek, AZ. He was born May 5th in Warren, MN in 1932 to Gilbert and Hedvig Odden. The family moved to Viking, MN where they had a family restaurant and farm. He attended Valley City State College where he graduated with a teaching degree. Jim taught high school english at Northern Iowa before being drafted into the United States Army. Jim was stationed in Japan for 3 years where he was a cryptographer.

Jim met and married Colleen (Whitehouse) in Helena, MT in 1957. Jim and Colleen had 3 children; Miles, Sheryl and Kim. Jim later met and married Donna (Booth) in 1982. Jim and Donna had a vast love for traveling. They spent 35 summers in Soldotna, AK and wintered in AZ and Mexico. Jim and Donna made friends everywhere they went.

Jim established Jim Odden's Tax Service & Accounting in 1960. He was one of the last of a dying breed not using computer for over 50 years!

Jim and Donna loved the MN lakes country. They made Little Cormorant Lake their home for 29 years.

Jim will always be remembered as a strong man. He loved life and his family. He was a handyman and carpenter by trade. Jim could not pass up a yard sale always looking for something he didn't need. Jim was always ready with his quick wit and knowledge of "everything".

Jim is survived by his loving wife and daughters: Donna Odden; Sheryl (Ron) Peterson, Kim (Frank) Galeno, Bradley (Deb) Booth and David (Jill) Booth; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife Colleen, son Miles, two stepsons, Jeff and Doug Booth.

Jim leaves behind his loving family and friends who share countless memories. Jim's remains were donated to science at the University of Arizona.
