Mary Louise Bailey Burraston, loving mother, wife, sister and grandmother, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on April 20, 2017 in SLC, Utah. Mary was born June 27, 1937 in Nephi, Utah to Jesse and Norma Bailey.

Mary was the oldest of five children, and married Merlyn Jay Burraston on October 10, 1957 in the Manti LDS temple. Mary and Merlyn made their home in West Valley City, where they worked and raised their five children.

Mary was a loving, compassionate and service oriented woman, and served those around her unceasingly. She was a devoted member of the LDS church where she served those in her ward and community. Mary worked for First Security Bank of Nephi, as well as at Granger Elementary as an aide.

Mary’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She was the mother of 5 children, 18 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as aunt to many nieces and nephews who she loved. Mary’s biggest joy in life was making her children, grandchildren and those around her happy. Mary loved reading, sewing, the outdoors, cheering for the Jazz, and enjoying a diet Dr. Pepper.

Mary is survived by her children Lori (Frank) Reilley, Todd (Michele) Burraston, Troy Burraston, Kyle (Lisa) Burraston , and Lisa (Eric) Bird; brothers Carl and Dale Bailey; sisters Lucille Corfield and Lois Bateman; as well as grand and great-grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Merlyn; her parents Jesse and Norma Bailey; and granddaughter Jessica.

A viewing will be held Sunday, April 23rd from 5-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd. in Taylorsville, and on Monday April 24th at the Country Park LDS ward house, 1988 W. 11400 S. South Jordan from 10:00-10:45 preceding the funeral services at 11:00. Interment will be at the Valley View Memorial Park under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
