Born in Lancaster, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harold Todd & Evelyn J. Kaufman. She was a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Army as of 2016, with 27 years of service, and 40 years of nursing (civilian & military). Over the span of her military career, she continued her education, receiving her Masters in 2007, along with many nursing & medical certifications. She was recognized over the years, with a multitude of awards, to include the honor of being the 1st nurse in the U.S. Army to become a 1st assist in surgery. Her surviving husband, retired Lt. Col John Lisi and Lt. Col Rebecca Lisi had a remarkable 66 combined years of service with the U.S. Army. In her most recent years before retirement in Augusta, GA, she took on the role of Chief of the operating room at Eisenhower Medical Center.
In the last year, she and her husband had been attending the Gloverville Pentecostal Holiness Church in South Carolina. Rebecca was blessed with a loving husband, family, and a strong Christian upbringing that was reflected throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving and dedicated mother, a brilliant nurse, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her drive, bravery, humor, and strength remained constant over the years and will never be forgotten.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 20 years, retired Lt.Col John Joseph Lisi, her five children, Allison Legaspi of Rineyville, KY, Lindsey Hall of Louisville, KY, Victoria Michelle Lisi of Evans, GA, Johnny Lisi of Utica, NY, Joseph Lisi of Tampa, FL; Three grandchildren: Brianna Leigh, Mya Noel, and Ella Rein; and three siblings: brother Art Kaufman, and sisters LeaAnn Kaufman & Lori Kaufman Bewley of Louisville, KY; and her loyal, loving dog Mickey.
A funeral service was held Monday, April 24, 2017, 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Eder Herrera officiating.
The family would like to personally thank her oncologists Dr. Pantin & Dr. Amod, the BMT nursing staff of Georgia Regional, and the love & spiritual support of Pastor Eder Herrera. Special thanks to her family, the Kaufmans, especially her sister LeaAnn for their extra care, comfort & support in her final days.
