Sarah's birth certificate appears in the parish records of Notre Dame de Quebec (LDS film no: 1289928) and reads as follows: The twenty-third of June one thousand eight hundred and fifty, we the undersigned priests, vicars of Quebec have baptised Sarah Jane born the previous evening of the legitimate marriage of Patrick Fawcett, carriage man, and Ann McLaughlin of this parish. Sarah's obituary appeared on page 3 of the July 16, 1880 edition of the Morning Chronicle (Quebec) and read: On the 15th instant, after a lingering illness (consumption), in the 24th year of her age, Sarah Janet Fawcette [sic], the beloved wife of John Arthur Ritter. The funeral will leave her late residence, No. 42 S. Oliver Street, St. John Suburbs, on the 17th inst., at 2:30 p.m., for St. Patrick's Church, and thence to Woodfield Cemetery. Friends and aquaintances are requested to attend without further notice.
