Early Thursday morning, Jim Reed was called home by our Heavenly Father. Jim was born in Salt Lake City, September 12, 1964, weighing in at 12 pounds. He was born with a hole in his heart and had open heart surgery before he was able to join our family at home. He had a second heart surgery as a teenager, and again about ten years ago. His heart fought valiantly his whole life, but ultimately an infection around his heart caused his death.

Jim was the fifth son and eighth child of Ethel Irene Reed and Haven Holbrook. He grew up in Bountiful, and was a cute brown eyed little boy, his eyes always sparkling with mischief. In his early twenty’s the sparkle dimmed, and he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, which he suffered with the rest of his life. Jim was a big, gentle giant of a guy; he loved his family and his many nieces and nephews. He loved building WW2 aircraft and tank models, and he loved the color orange, vanilla and chocolate chip ice-cream, and orange sherbet.

Jim is finally free from all of the mental and physical limitations he had in this life. Jim will be missed by many. Our family is grateful for the many people that have helped with his care over these past thirty years, last being Davis Behavioral Health and Rocky Mountain Care Center.

Jim is survived by four brothers, Blaine (Nancy) Reed, Eldon Reed, David Reed, Jay Reed, and his three sisters, June (Boyd) Uzelac, Lynda Reed, Joy (Craig) Lott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haven Reed and Ethel Irene Reed.

A viewing and memorial will be held on April 19, 2017 at 650 S 200 E, Bountiful fro, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.. Interment will follow at the Bountiful Cemetery at 12 noon.
