He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maureen (Moe); five sisters, Jean Sisul (Osage Beach, MO), Joyce Curtis,(Oquawka, IL) Mary Kay Beard (Birmingham, AL), Connie Humphrey (Eldon, MO), Ilene Clark (Birmingham, AL); two brothers, Bill (Kathy) Petet (Eldon, MO) and Don (Billie) Petet (Meridian, ID), and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ron.
Tom was born on February 24, 1950 in Moline, Illinois, the seventh of nine children. He grew up in Eldon, Missouri, and lived in the Quad Cities and Peoria, before moving to Des Moines with Moe in 1987.
Tom was the best friend anyone ever could ever have and was devoted to his family. He was an excellent cook and gardener, and reveled in the backyard gatherings at his home. He was a veteran of over 30 RAGBRAI's, did Bike Wisconsin and Oregon, and relished rides and gatherings with his many friends in, Team Sprint, his RAGBRAI group. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. His was a life well-lived.
