Lorraine M. Freund, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017, in McHenry.
She was born in Spring Grove on May 9, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Mathilda (nee Kattner) May. On October 24, 1945, she married Stanley Freund at St. Peter's Church in Spring Grove.
Lorraine enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking, traveling, golf and was involved in many card clubs. She was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Family meant everything to her and she will be sorely missed.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Dale L. (Cherise) Freund of McHenry; grandchildren, Andrew (Julie), Jeffrey (Stacy), Martin, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Alaina, Mazie; sisters-in-law, Marjorie May of Richmond, Mary Lou May of Spring Grove, Glorice Jackson of McHenry, Doris Freund of McHenry; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, who passed away August 17, 1999; her parents, Frank and Mathilda; and brothers, Arnold N. May, Frank A. May and Eugene E. May.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry and will continue on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 9:00am to 10:00am at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will follow at St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg at 10:30am. Interment will be at the church cemetery after Mass.
