Herbert Frazier Roberts, 90 of Chapmanville, WV departed this life on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Hillcrest Healthcare, Madison, WV.

He was born May 25, 1926 in West Hamlin, WV, a son of the late John Ivan Van Roberts and Lula Thompson Roberts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Roberts, grandparents, Henry Roberts and Sally Porter Roberts; one daughter, Teresa Roberts Davis; four brothers, Odell Roberts, Erskel Roberts, Charlie Roberts and Farnell Roberts; three sisters, Annie Holland, Evie Roberts and Arco Copley, and his father and mother-in-law, Benjamin and Ida Williamson Moore.

Herbert enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading his bible and going to church. He served in the Navy and was a member of the UMWA 5958. Herbert was a retired Coal Miner of 47 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Georgia-Gabrielle Roberts and Louida (Lawrence) Wyner; one son, Herbert Roberts Jr; one sister, LeGretta Baldwin; one brother, Calvin (Nova) Roberts; three grandchildren, Joshua Wyner, Tessa Wyner and Herbert Alan Roberts; and four great-grandchildren, Audriana Dingess, Elijah Dingess, Benjamin Dingess and Ayden Roberts.

Services will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 12 noon – 1 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Carl Wallen, Arvin Stephenson, Stewart Thompson, Arby Rice, Benny Boyd, David George, and Mikey Keith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tracy Toppins, Danny Tomblin, Bill Storey, Daryl Woody, Russ Baker, Brenden Leslie, Larry Thompson, Claude Ellis and Raymond Roberts.

The family wish to express their sincere appreciation to Poppy's kind and faithful caregiver, Brittany Pridemore.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking contributions to be made to the American Cancer Association or charity of their choice.
