HERNDON, George F. Sr. "Buck" age 90, of Plant City, Florida, born in Dover on October 3, 1926, entered into eternal rest on April 15, 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII, a retired dragline operator with Amax Phosphate, and a life-long farmer. He is survived by his wife, Doris Herndon; his five children, George F. Herndon Jr. of Lake Wales, Jerry E. Herndon (Robin) of Plant City, Dwight L. Herndon (Denise), of Plant City, Janice Faye Piercey (David), Thonotosassa, and Mark Bradford Herndon (Peggy) of Plant City; his three siblings Doris Youngblood of Crestview, Raymond Herndon (Alice) of Naples, and Willard Herndon of Lake City; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Herndon. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 20 at 11 am, at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 CR 39 South, Plant City, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 am. Committal to follow at Springhead Cemetery, Lakeland.
