She was a retired registered nurse with the former Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg where she also earned her R.N. with the Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing.
She was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland where she was a member of the Women's Bible Study; enjoyed pinochle and playing card games of any kind; was an avid reader, a great seamstress and a wonderful homemaker. Evelyn's real passion though was her love of nursing.
Evelyn was born in Fernmaugh Twp., Juniata County to the late Russell C. and Minnie (Stouffer) Shively and was the widow of Morris Paul Hess.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Ted Sprinkle and wife Cynthia J. of Fairfield, CT and Valerie L. Sprinkle of Mechanicsburg; two step sons, M. Paul Hess, II of Port St. Lucy, FL and Douglas F. Hess of Jensen Beach, FL; grandchildren, Lance P. Sprinkle and wife Bernadette of Saratoga Springs, NY, Chad E. Sprinkle and wife Julie of Lithia, FL, Caitlyn E. Sprinkle of Fairfield, CT and Cole A. Sprinkle of Fairfield, CT; great grandchildren, Lucy Sprinkle, Henry Sprinkle, Kate Sprinkle and Ryan Sprinkle; nieces and nephews, Margaret Drawbaugh of Camp Hill, Anne Hawkins of Raleigh, NC, David Reynolds of Raleigh, NC and Douglas Reynolds of Tampa, FL; and a cousin Wilbur Stouffer of FL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. John H. Brock, M.Div. officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 – 10:30 am Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
