Tupelo- Jennifer Lanne Bates Odom, 54, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at NMMC after a short, sudden battle with cancer. She was born on October 14, 1962 in Tupelo, MS to William Erskine Bates, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Evans Bates. She Graduated from Tupelo High School, and later Itawamba Junior College with an associates degree in computer science. She was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, mother, and Grandmother. Her favorite past times were spending time with friends, boating, camping, traveling, and being a fun and awesome “Mimi” to her grandson.

A memorial service celebrating Jennifer’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Andy Black officiating. Private Burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday only. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be assisting the family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Ann (Evans) Bates of Tupelo. She is survived by two children, Staci Carter (Nick) and Michael Fowler, grandson Peyton, father William E. Bates Sr. of Tupelo, siblings Julie Seay (Robert) of Collierville TN, Bill Bates (Cindy) of Saltillo, Greg Bates of Oxford, Lisa Broussard (John) of Atlanta, GA, Steve Bates (Shelly) of Saltillo, and many loving nieces and nephews.
