Evelyn Elizabeth Matthews, 86, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, after a long life filled with much joy and her share of suffering.
She loved life, her pets and her Lord. She had an amazing green thumb. She bore the gift of encouragement.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Stephen Ray Monroe; her daughter, Robin Monroe Turner; her sister, Judith Olivia Foutch; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many cherished extended family and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Green and Wesley Curtis Matthews; and siblings, Martin Matthews, Jerry Matthews, Nancy Schorr, Edna Russell, Annie Margaret Clark and Linda Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ives Memorial Church in Pinebluff, where her spiritual journey flourished.
