Clyde Larry King, 79, Anderson, passed away peacefully in his sleep Easter
morning, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on February 9, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana to Clyde Leroy and
Dorothy (Mills) King.
Larry was graduated from the former Walnut Grove High School in 1957
where he was an avid basketball and baseball player.
He retired in 1999 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors
and Magnaquench in Anderson.
Larry belonged to the By His Grace Ministries and had served as a Sunday
school teacher for many years in various churches he had been involved with.
He was a registered Girl Scout and was involved in Girl Scouting with both of
his daughters; he was a member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; the
Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; the Pendleton Kiwanis; and a member of
the Lapel Jubilee Chorus.
Larry was a softball coach for both of his daughter's teams; and volunteered at
local nursing homes.
After retirement, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family; traveling with
his wife; and taking rides in his Mustang.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carmella (Spall); two daughters,
Jennifer Lane of Indianapolis and Carmella Mae (husband, Drew) Thatcher of
Speedway; one grandson, Caden Lane; one brother, Thomas (wife, Katie)
King of Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Marina King of Arcadia and Becky
Falk of Pendleton; one brother-in-law, Lee (wife, Shirley) Spall of Pendleton;
and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Michael
King; his step-mother, Lois (Bolton); and his 18-year-old dachshund,
Princess.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at
Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North Street, Lapel with
Pastors Gary McCaslin and Sue Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at
