Rev. James MacKnight was the ninth General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Pastor, teacher, administrator, James graduated from EPBC in 1953 and pastored churches in Verona, Belleville, Oshawa (King Street), Ottawa (Bethel), and Edmonton (Central). He served 3 years as senior evangelist of Canada for Christ Crusades.

In 1982, MacKnight was elected as the General Superintendent of the PAOC, a position that he held with distinction for 14 years. During his tenure, he spearheaded national church planting initiatives that led to tremendous growth throughout the fellowship.

Considered a global leader, MacKnight travelled extensively around the world, preaching at camp meetings and conferences, sharing the gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit. After his retirement as Superintendent, he served as vice chairman of the Pentecostal World Conference.

Remembered as a Spirit-anointed statesman and visionary-leader of the Canadian Pentecostal Movement, his funeral was held at Agincourt Pentecostal Church with numerous tributes by current and former Pentecostal leaders.
