Born July 14, 1934, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene King and the late Gertrude Lowder King. She was a member of Sumter First Church of God. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Alsbrook Furniture Company, office manager for Sumter Wrecker and H.C. Ford and Son Scrap Metal, as well as a cook at Fat Boys. Mrs. Ford was best known for her cooking and catering.
