Final rites were held Monday for life-long Cedar City resident, Mrs. Sarah Ann Elizabeth (San) Wood, 78. Mrs. Wood died Thursday, March 7 at the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City of causes incident to age.
Services were conducted at the Cedar LDS First Ward, the ward in which Mrs. Wood lived her entire life.
Conducting was Bp. Lowell Sherratt. Prayer at the mortuary prior to the services was by Parson U. Webster and Invocation at the chapel was by David L. Sargent. Speakers included Harry Lunt and Samuel F. Leigh with remarks by Bp. Sherratt.
Musical numbers included a vocal trio including Gladys Isom, Evelyn Jones, and Ruth Betensen singing "Peace I Leave With You." They were accompanied by Bernella Jones. George Grimshaw and Elwin Armstron grendered a vocal duet, "My Father Knows," accompanied by Beth Leigh and "Beside Still Waters," was sung by Blaine Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Johnson.
Benediction was by H. P. Dotson and dedication of the grave at the Cedar City Cemetery was by John U. Webster.
Mrs. Wood was born in Cedar City Nov. 3, 1884, a daughter of John James and Eliza Ann Urie Webster. She married Franklin Bryner Wood May 27, 1908 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1951.
Survivors include two sons, Howard and Paul Wood, both of Cedar City; 10 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: John U. Webster, Miss Catherine Webster, Mrs. A. G. (Ruth) Ridges, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Donald T. (Echo) Hinsch, Great Neck, N.Y.; Parson U. and Wilford Webster, both of Cedar City.
