Ella Brandon Stanton was the granddaughter of Mississippi's 4th and 6th governor, Governor Gerard Brandon.
She was the wife of Aaron Stanton, and third child of Gerard & Charlotte Brandon of Natchez, Mississippi. "Ella", as she was known, took over the running of Brandon Hall after her parents' deaths, which she turned into a boarding house in the late 1800s.
Ella and Aaron had four children: Charlotte Brandon Stanton, Anna Wilson Stanton, Agnes Stanton, and David Brandon Stanton.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, numerous siblings, and her granddaughter and namesake, Elizabeth Elmina Brandon Merrill, the daughter of her eldest child, Charlotte.
