Paul Edward Staton Sr., 70, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday at Baptist Medical Center at Little Rock.

He was born June 7, 1933, at Alymra (Arkansas County), a son of the late Seaborn Staton Sr. and Modeana Rollins Staton.

He was reared in England (Lonoke County) and attended England schools.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

He moved to Pine Bluff in 1958 and went to work for International Paper Co., where he worked until retiring as control room operator. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Staton; and one sister, Jeanette Newton.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Shepherd Staton, whom he married on May 4, 1957, at Wichita, Kan.; one son, Paul Staton Jr. of Maumelle; one daughter, Amanda Staton Triplett of Springdale; four brothers, Eugene Staton of Conway, Gail Staton of Humnoke (Lonoke County), Ray Staton of Little Rock, and Seaborn Staton Jr. of North Little Rock; four sisters, Ruth Grissom and Elsie Dixon, both of North Little Rock, Martha Cantrell of Sheridan, and Faye Brown of Little Rock; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff with the Rev. Bert Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery at England.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
