Joan S. Potter, 65, of Allentown, died on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Phoebe Rehabilitation Facility in Allentown. She was the wife of LaVerne F. Potter. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Francis McClafferty and the late Joan (Reinsmith) McClafferty.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown and was a member of Faith Church Bible Study. Joan earned her Master's Degree in 1996 and her Bachelor's Degree in 1978 in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University and was a graduate of William Allen High School, Class of 1969. She was employed as a Health and Physical Education Teacher in the Allentown School District at Raub Middle School for many years before retiring in 2012. Joan was a devoted wife who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors: Husband; Father, Daughter, Michelle L. Everett and her husband Brian of Allentown and Lisa A. Brunner and her husband Todd of Pennsburg; Brothers, Scott F. and Curtis W. McClafferty; Step-Children, Derek and Crystal Potter; and Grandchildren, Dylan and Marley Everett, Owin and Lexi Brunner, Cora Fyffe and Dylan Buzgierski.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown.
