{OBITUARY}-Diana Mitchell was born near Nashville, Tenn., Oct 8, 1821. Was married to George Downs in Greene Co., Ill, in 1841 of this union were born four children- two sons and two daughters. J.G. Downs of Rush Hill is the only survivor. The husband died in 1849. Mrs Downs was married again in 1851 to Joel Mitchell in Morgan Co., Ill. Mr. Mitchell served through the civil war being in Co. G. 101 st Ill. Vol. He died in Prairie Co. Ark., March 24, 1881 aged 62 years. To this latter union were born three children. Mr. J.C. Mitchell of Oklahoma, Mrs. Jane Middleton of Springfield, Ill., and Mrs. Caroline Bartley of Johnson Co., KS. All of whom are still living.
Mrs. Mitchell joined the Baptist church in Greene Co., Ill., at the age of 16. Mrs Mitchell died in Rush Hill, MO., Jan 2, 1899 and was buried at Laddonia.
