Graduated in 1910 from Creighton Law School, Omaha. He entered into practice in Grand Island. From 1910 to 1977 he practiced law. In 1912 he was elected county attorney and was re-elected in 1914. In 1946 he began serving his term as Grand Island's mayor. In 1977 the Hall County Barr Association recognized him as the oldest living Hall County attorney.
