Dr. Taber joined MUSC & advanced to the rank of full professor in 1965, becoming the first woman to achieve that rank in the College of Medicine.

Dr. Taber was feared (yet extremely highly respected) by students at The Medical College of S. C. (now MUSC). I became aware of her when I took a summer Human Anatomy course at that medical school the summer after my junior year in college (1965). She was the faculty member who interviewed me when I applied during that fall for medical school. She wrote (along with Dr. W. C. Worthington) an excellent memorial article for their colleague, Dr. M. H. Knisely.

There is an on-line article about Dr. Taber via the MUSC website, HERE.

And another one via that institution's Waring Library, HERE.

Her brother became an acclaimed bee keeper, and his memorial is HERE.
