Bernard J. Riley Sr., 69, of Butler passed away Monday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
Born July 27, 1947, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late John Riley and Marie Waltman Riley.
Bernie proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a former volunteer fireman for Zelienople. Bernie retired from Consumer Discount in Zelienople after 35 years and spent the last 14 years working for Marburger Dairy.
When he wasn't inside taking a nap, one could always find him on his lawn mower. He enjoyed trips to the casino with his wife, Diane, but above all, cherished the time he spent with his many grandchildren.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Diane Cress Riley, whom he married May 17, 1969; his children, Marcy Rudolph of Butler, Bernie (Rebekah) Riley of Zelienople and Steven (Jody Rouse) Riley of Butler; his grandchildren, Philip (Melissa) Rudolph, Meghann (Alex Sintz, companion) Riley, Nichole Rudolph, Alexa (Wesley Jones, companion) Carothers, Caitlin (Jesse McFarland, companion) Rudolph, Joseph Rudolph, Anthony Riley, Ethan Earley, Bernie Riley III, Lillie Riley, Victoria Riley and Ava Riley; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Perdew and Clayton Rudolph; his sisters, Marge Schneider, Pat Riley and Mary Kay (Bill) Summerville; his dog and favorite grandchild, Felon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Riley Carothers; his great-grandson, Karson McFarland; and his brothers, John Riley, Mike Riley and Don Waltman.
