Thomas L. Monnett, age 43, a resident of Washington for 33 years, and for the last two years customs officer in Tacoma, died Tuesday night at his home, 916 South Lawrence street. Mr. Monnett came to Bellingham at the age of 10 from Coatesville, Ind. where he was born November 16, 1871. He was customs officer at Bellingham for some time and later moved to Sumas, Wash., where he lived for four years. He was a member of the American Yeoman society, and is survived by a widow, Estella F. Monnett; a son, Vernon L., age 7; an infant son [Clyde E.], and his mother. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock from the C.C. Mellinger company’s. Rev. W.A. Moore will officiate.

Funeral of T. L. Monnett
The funeral of Thomas L. Monnett, a member of the United States customs service in Tacoma, was held from Mellinger’s this afternoon. Rev. W.A. Moore of the First Christian church officiated. Interment was in the Tacoma cemetery. Many flowers and set pieces were presented, including an armchair of flowers from employees of the Milwaukee dock, a broken wheel from the United States customs officers, and a wreath from the Foss Launch company. The pallbearers were James Dorsey, John Hock, R.L. Ballinger, D.C. Imrie, W.S. Dowie and F.W. Macdonald, all of the customs service.
