Steve was born May 12th, 1945 in Blakesburg, Iowa. He attended college at Iowa Wesleyan. He was a Gunnery Sargent in the Marines for 10 years and served in Vietnam. He moved to Mesquite in the late 1970's where he raised his sons Chad and Brett.
He was an engineer at A.C. Horn for over 25 years. He was a man of high moral character and believed in truth and honesty. Steve was an amazing engineer and loved wood working. He was an expert craftsman and electrician and could fix anything around the house. Steve loved the Texas Rangers and the Texas Longhorns. More than anything he loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by son Chad and his wife Amy and their children Cody, Camron, Cayden, and Emma; and son Brett and his husband Adam and their children Charles and Lacey; He is survived by his three brothers, Mark (Carol) Ritter, Garland, Texas, Daniel (Sue) Ritter, Garland, Texas, Joseph (Wanda) Ritter, Iowa; and three sisters Barbara (Gene) Covert, Iowa, Nancy (Jeff) Damerval, Iowa, and Cindy Scarlett, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norlan and Alice; and his sisters, Rosalie and Marietta, and brother Tim.
The family will receive friends on Monday April 17, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home – 7405 West Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 10:30am at DFW National Cemetery with Military Honors – 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX.
