Ambrose's parents were Ambrose & Phoeba (Counts) Hay. Phoeba was a descendant of our oldest documentable Counts ancestors: John & Counts of Glade Hollow, Russell County, Virginia. As such, all of Phoebe's children and grandchildren, et al are descendants as well.

Phyllis Counts, Find A Grave member, 48796142, indicates the following on December 7, 2017:
"Ambrose's mother's name is spelled PHOEBA on her headstone."
-----

Ambrose married Elizabeth Counts in Dickenson Co, VA on April 8, 1892. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Lewis Counts & Nancy (Rose) Counts.

Ambrose & Elizabeth's children were:
Clete Webster Hay 1892–1978
Kerry Hay 1894–1925
Luther Hay 1896–1918
Alta Pearl Hay 1898–1978
Lillie Myrtle Hay 1900–1974
Oakley Homer Hay 1903–1984
