Michael J. Wingo, 84, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at an Abilene medical center.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Rev. Rickie Rister officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Michael was born on April 29, 1920, in McLean (Gray County), Texas, where he was reared and graduated from McLean High School in 1939. After a 30-year military career, he retired from the U. S. Air Force as a master sergeant and squadron administrator. In 1959, he moved from Lubbock to Abilene.

He married C. Loraine Crawford on October 3, 1942, in Gonzales, Texas. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James, Roland, and Burrel Wingo; and two sisters, Ann Moon and Gertrude Creed.

Survivors include his wife, C. Loraine Wingo of Abilene; a son, Michael J. Wingo, II, and wife, Mary Ann, of Southlake, TX; a daughter, Patricia Nail and husband, Joel, of Abilene; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
