Frances was the daughter of John Langston Styles and Mary Ann Hopkins. She was the fourth of thirteen children. Aged 83 years, 4 months, 18 days.

She married Samuel B. Duncan 10/22/1871 in Fulton County, Georgia. They had 8 children who lived to adulthood and two children who died young, Reuben Roy Duncan b. 7/28/1890, d. 7/25/1893 and Myrtle Grace Duncan b. 7/30/1900, d. 2/19/1901. Both of these children are buried here with them.
-----------------
Cause of death - cerebral hemorrhage (stroke).
Contributing cause - chronic Bright's disease.
-------------
Her husband, Samuel died in 1908 and she never remarried. She was my Great Grandmother. She died before I was born, so never knew her.

Frances was the great granddaughter of Selah Langston/Styles. Selah's sister, Dicey Langston/Springfield was Frances' GreatGreat Aunt. Dicey was a heroine of the Revolutionary War. This line goes back to directly to Selah, then I have another line, my GGrandmother Springfield's line, who goes directly back to Dicey = two sisters, 6 generations back - how neat is that?? Some of the wonderful quirks when you do genealogy !!

We feel lucky to have a few pictures of her to share with you. Frances' daughter, Georgia Gertrude Duncan/Stallings, also has a page and is buried at Asbury Cemetery, Carroll County, Georgia. There are a number of pictures of her. The resemblance to her mother is remarkable.
