Edgar Vance, 80, of Princeton was called home to be with Jesus while surrounded by his loving family at his residence on Friday, April 22, 2016. He was a retired construction contractor and had been a resident of Mercer County since 1959 moving here from Jolo. Edgar enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.

Born in Paynesville, WV on December 2, 1935 he was the son of the late Daniel Howard "Dan" Vance (1915-1971) & Laura Dicy Payne-Vance (1915-1991). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cortelia Sue “Tay” Muncy-Vance (Deceased); one son, James Wyatt Vance (Deceased) and three brothers, James Vance (Deceased), Herman Lee Vance (1938-2013) and Alfred Vance (Deceased).

Survivors include four daughters, Kathy Vance of Glenwood Park, Pamela Vance-Blankenship & husband Shannon Blankenship of Concord, NC, Karen Vance-Morgan & husband Rich Morgan, and Kim Vance-Whitlow & husband Tim Whitlow, all of Princeton; four step-children he raised as his own, Gary McMichael, Randall Muncy, Rita Farley and Jackie Mills; nine grandchildren, Laura Jo Hazelwood, Timmy Ray Hazelwood, Billy Joe Hazelwood, Gage Blankenship, Hunter Blankenship, Cody Whitlow, Hope Morgan, Dr. Toni Muncy and Tina Lester; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Rosa Etta Vance-Paschall of Wilson, NC; six brothers including twin brother Edmond Vance (B. 1935) & wife Ruby Vance, Arnold Vance & wife Betty Sue Vance, Carl Vance & wife Myrtle Vance, Orville Vance & wife Eva Vance, Joe Vance & wife Cherie Vance, and Donald "Don" Lynn Vance (1959-2017) all of Paynesville, WV; and sister-in-law, Ella Vance of Paynesville, WV.

Friends may call at the residence, 302 Vance Road in Princeton (just off Unity Road near Athens) after 6:00 PM Sunday, April 24, 2016. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Edgar Vance will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2016, at the residence with Minister Danny Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Vance-Muncy Cemetery.
