Sergeant First Class, US Army, retired, George Owen Kay was born October 8, 1925 in Hartwell, Hart County, Georgia, the son of George Henry Kay (1896–1973) and Annie Ruth (Craft) Kay (1900–1968).
He was married to Elizabeth "Sue" Reno (1937–2017), the daughter of William Alva Reno (1895–1977) and Eula Dean (Noffsinger) Reno (1904–1991).
George was a retired US Army veteran and had served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. A self-employed painter, he was also a member of Northeast Baptist Church and lived in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee.
He was 91 years old when he passed away at Tennessee State Veterans Home on April 9, 2017.
Survivors included his widow, three married sons, a daughter, sister, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services were held at the chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and burial was in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky with full Military Honors.
