Jacob W. "Jake" Holland, 73, of Mason, Illinois died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, Illinois, with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham, Illinois, with graveside military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mr. Holland was born on June 13, 1931, in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of William R. and Paula (Beal) Holland. He married Janine Sapp in 1956 and they divorced. He married Helen Gelsinger in 1975 in Mason, Illinois.

He was employed for 47 years at Fedders and was a past member of Edgewood, Illinois American Legion Post 1168. He served as part of the 350th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Feb. 6, 1952, through Jan. 22, 1954.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Mason, Illinois; son, William (wife, Laura) of rural Effingham, Illinois; stepson, Glen (wife, Linda) Gelsinger, of rural Mason, Illinois; daughter, Vanessa (husband, Richard) Jansen, of rural Watson, Illinois; stepdaughter, Judy Wright, of Mesa, Arizona; brother, John (wife, Ruth) Holland, of rural Mason, Illinois; sisters, Imogene Conner, of rural Loogootee, Illinois, and Mary Cornwell, of Medical Lake, Washington; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 12 great step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
