Hannah (Key) Ritter was the daughter of George Key and Rebecca Minton, who married on December 2, 1821. Hannah married Peter Ritter on February 11, 1836.

Mrs. Hannah Ritter died at Jackson, Mich., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Curtis, aged 78 years, 9 months and one day. The remains were brought to this place for interment and the funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the M. E. church, of which she is a member. Rev. Worral officiated. She was the widow of Peter Ritter who died four years ago. To this couple were born fifteen children, of whom only seven are living. Mr. and Mrs. Ritter were among the oldest settlers of this vicinity, having located here some fifty years ago.

Information from Richard S. Clark:

George and Rebecca (Minton) Key, the former a native of Virginia, and the later of Pennsylvania.... They were the parents of sixteen children, and fifteen of that number grew to man and womanhood. Those now living are: Hannah, widow of Peter Ritter, and a resident of Michigan; Jane, widow of Edward Mincher, who now makes her home in Wapello, Iowa; Ambrose, a farmer residing near Kansas City; Hattie, wife of James Jones, a resident farmer of Southern Kansas; Alvin and Joseph.... The mother died in 1860. This honored pioneer [George Key] made his home in Louisa County [Iowa] until about the year 1861, when he went to Galveston, Tex., to visit his son Ambrose, and while there his death occurred."

George Key, set out for Iowa in about 1836. The rest of the Key family followed in 1838, except for Hannah who was already married.
