The family lived in Martinsville, Indiana until moving to Indianapolis until the late winter of 1917. Tragedy struck the family a few weeks later, in April of that year, when the McGees' 9-year-old son, Lawrence, was hit and killed by an automobile while playing tag.
They lost their youngest child, Maxine, in 1936 when she died of a bacterial infection of the heart.
Charles and Blanche moved to Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana around 1938.
Charles died of a coronary occlusion at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 18 days.
He was survived by his wife, Blanche; and 1 son, James McGee.
Charles was buried on 15 Dec 1961. His wife, Blanche, passed away in 1967.
