FRANKLIN, MATTHEW VICTOR age 23 of McCalla passed away on Sunday January 15, 2012. Matthew, also known as Hammerdog, was born on January 14, 1989 in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in Oak Grove, Alabama. Matt graduated from Oak Grove High School in 2007, where he played football as a defensive tackle and nose guard for six years (#58). He worked at Marathon Electrical as an electrician and was working towards his journeyman license. He was a member of Bible Comes to Life church in Adger, Alabama. Matthew married the love of his life, Jessica Jones Franklin, on July 11, 2009. He loved to hunt, travel, and was a huge sports fanatic particularly Alabama football. He enjoyed being around his wife, family, friends. He was known for doing anything he could for the people around him and people he barely knew. Survived by his wife, Jessica Franklin; Parents, Benny and Melissa Franklin, Mary Paraskevados and Johnny Coyle; two brothers, Brandon Bates and Chris Franklin (Ashley); three sisters, Amber Franklin, Sarah Coyle, and Samantha Coyle; niece, Abigail Bates; nephew, Hunter Franklin; grandparents, Thomas Hannah Sr., Vicky Paraskevakos; 9 aunts, 10 uncles, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Irene and Raymond Franklin, Robert Clayton, and Evelyn Hannah, uncles Gary and Ricky Franklin, cousin Amanda Grimes. Visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2012, 5:30 - 7:00pm at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday January 21, 2012 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Pastor Phillip Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Adger Cemetery. Palbearers will be Chris Franklin, Brandon Bates, Daniel "Danny" Hannah, Donald "DJ" Gray, Justin Vines, Kaleb Hall, Taylor Daniel, Justin Cosgrove, Derek Simmons and Jared Tucker.
