Actor. Born Peter Franklin Hansen, he was a veteran character actor whose most famous role was of Lee Baldwin on the daytime soap opera "General Hospital" from 1965 to 2001. He attended the University of Michigan and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. During the Second World War, he flew combat missions in the South Pacific. After the war, he followed his dream of acting to the Pasadena Playhouse with his wife and daughter. He was later signed by Paramount Studios and appeared in his first film "Branded" in 1950. He would go on to appear in such films as "When Worlds Collide" (1951), "The Savage" (1952), "The War of the Roses" (1989), and "Dragonfly" (2002). Besides "General Hospital" and its sister show "Port Charles", he made many appearances on television throughout his six decade acting career with such credits as "Public Defender", "The Lone Ranger", "Science Fiction Theatre", "Broken Arrow", "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "Sea Hunt", "Gomer Pyle USMC", "The F.B.I", "How the West Was Won", "Simon & Simon", and "Growing Pains". He also was a spokesman for Plymouth automobiles on the Lawrence Welk, Steve Allen, and Garry Moore variety shows during the 1960s. Later in his career he was a news anchorman for KCOP-TV in Los Angeles. While on "General Hospital", he earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama in 1979.
